Last Week in Review

My children continue to be such opposites. Suzy still loves to be right next to me. She LOVES to be a "Suzy backpack". I don't mind at all. I know someday this will pass and I'll miss it. Plus, it's a good workout to help with those post Andy pounds.


Andy, well... he could care less if I'm even in the room. This week he started crawling. This is now the most frequent view we see of our little adventurer.

The Learning Curve

I'm still learning about lighting, aperture, lenses, etc. But, I'm having a lot of fun in the process. I bought these shirts a few weeks ago in hopes of capturing some wonderful, frame worthy moment. I was using just my window light, so that meant that my aperture (area in focus) had to be pretty shallow. I'm still looking for the "perfect" shot. So, my kids will have to wear these outfits again - maybe this weekend. But, it was a great time to test out some settings I'm not used to since I already had things set up to take photos for my friend, Diana. If these images bring a smile to your face like they did mine, they aren't completely worthless. - wink.

I love this photo. It's pretty classic around here. Suzy adores Andy. Most of the time he adores her even more than she does him. However, when he does get fed up, she's still young enough to be pretty clueless about it. So precious. I just wish it were in focus. ;) Darn those apertures...

Suzy's *Sob* Haircut

Suzy has had several haircuts previously and actually enjoys them. This time, however, was the first time that a significant amount of curl was lost. Her hair was getting very long and she and I were both growing tired of the tangles. So, she decided she wanted it "short like Adeline". I was hoping it would be long enough for locks of love, but alas, we were about two inches too short. Admittedly her hair would make a gorgeous wig, but neither she nor I wanted to wait to grow it out.
I did save one little lock for myself.

The picture worth 1000 tears....
Actually, I'm surprised at how cute the new "do" actually is. Suzy LOVES it and I'm enjoying not having to deal with the tangles. The back is still pretty curly, but the top is pretty much just wavy like mine now. My poor hairstylist, Shelley. She kept saying, "Are you sure you want to go shorter?" I kept saying, "Yes, maybe if we take off more weight it will spring up!" Alas, it did not. :) Oh well. I'm biased, but I still think she's the cutest little Curly Sue I know!

Suzy's First Dental Appointment

You may know that dental hygiene is a must for me. After all, my step dad was a dentist and I used to love to play on the chairs in his office. So, last week we had our first big family dental appointment. Rob went first, followed by Suzy, and then me while the office staff took turns loving on Andy. It was Suzy's first visit to see Dr. Jordan. Since she LOVES doctors, I expected her to do pretty well. I was really proud at how well she accepted everyone poking and prodding around in her mouth. She's such a little trooper! Everyone had a good report card and Suzy got some chapstick, a ring, and a bracelet. I believe that qualifies this visit as a big success. :)

She was so good. I'm so proud of you, little bear. I know Papaw Tiffany would be proud as well.

Award Winner

Here's my pick from this weeks photography class homework. The assignment was to go out in manual mode and photograph something moving. He suggested cars or bikes with cool backgrounds that would blur. I was told to "pan" the image to keep it in focus while the background blurred. So, Thursday night, I had still not done the assignment since Rob has been working late and I'm not about to take both kids to a busy street corner for a photo assignment. What's a Momma to do? Use what I have. Put Suzy kid on the swing. Even if she's not fully dressed. :)

I didn't think much of it, but apparently my instructor was pretty impressed that I took this shot at a 1/10 second shutter speed. He's a race car photographer with a really big ego that seems to like scantily clad women from his classroom examples. He's the kind of guy that I imagine will compliment a girl just to get in her pants.

When he saw my shot, he said, "You could come track side with me and shoot." A huge compliment for this man of few words. I can't help but be proud of what I'm assuming is a sincere compliment. After all, my jeans are WAY to big of a size for him. ;)


Introducing..... Super Suzy!

Everyone Poops

Happy Early Valentines Day from Andy! He loves.... himself! ;) Don't read on if you don't share my sense of humor or find poop funny.Suzy LOVES poop. I got her this book a few days ago and she wants it read multiple times a day. I knew she would. She's been fascinated with poop since I can remember. She still wants to help change all of Andy's poopy diapers and follow anyone who will let her into the potty. Do you remember the post about Katie pooping in the new grass in the yard? If not, it was traumatic for Suzy. She then became fascinated with the dogs pooping in the yard.
Since this book discusses where animals poop, she of course is in heaven. She even plays with her little Noah's ark animals and makes them places to poop. I literally had to create a pond, trees, and grass so that all of the animals could potty in their appropriate places. Mind you, this was even before the book. A while back, Suzy asks me if she can poop in our yard like the dogs. Figuring it would be a one-time thing, I agreed with the stipulation that she NEVER ask me to do this when we have company. (Somehow THAT would embarrass me. Blogging about it the world - humerus. Huh?) So, she did. It was about a year ago and I figured it was pretty well out of her system.
Until last week. We were playing in the backyard and Suzy says, "Mommy, are you company?" I'm like, "No, why?" Suzy, "Because I want to poop in the grass." Whatever. The hysterical part was how long it took her to find just the right spot.

Right next to some Katie poop. Now, I just need to figure out how to erase this post before she enters middle school. Suzy, there is never a dull moment with you, darlin'.

A week in review

I've been taking LOTS of pictures this week. Most of them are HORRIBLE as I try and move out of my comfort zone. However, here are a few little "gems" amongst all the coal. I love this smile. Suzy loves Daddy tickles.

Pawpop is teaching Andy to drive already.
LOVE this shot from a sweet friend's birthday party. Her daddy made these "wands" out of driveway reflectors. So fun!
I did get two of what I consider print worthy photos from another friend's birthday party. Happy Birthday Nate! Adeline couldn't get enough of the ice cream and cake.

I left Andy in the care of a good friend for a few hours and picked him up with these nice garters on. (She thought his feet were cold and put some socks on him. The funniest part? She has two boys. Yet, these are the socks she chose for my Little Man. I laughed so hard when I picked him up.)


Andy is inching around now, finding his own toys.
Suzy continues to absolutely adore him.
Yoga, anyone? Andy is getting very good at the tall plank move.
It's been an eventful week amidst all the runny noses....

Fun Times

It's "snot" been fun around here the past week. I'm so glad everyone is finally on the mend. Yes, gross. I agree. But, this blog is about recording the childhood events of my little sweeties. Unfortunately, it's "snot" always fun around here. ;)

EEEmmmmmer (Fud that is)

Andy is growing up so fast. Six months and rolling everywhere. He sits up pretty well now, but not completely. Crash pillows are still a must. It was "red day" at Suzy's preschool so she insisted that both Andy and I also wear red. I grabbed the camera because I think it's the first time he's been in real clothes that aren't footy pajamas. I just like footy pajamas. We are a pajama family. But, I figured his baby picture should reflect that he does, indeed, have other clothes. I just choose not to put them on him.

Cutie pie. But, he does look a lot like Elmer Fud. Agree?
Love you Little (old) Man! Suzy didn't get hair until around 18 months. I'm guessing it will be similar for him.
