Yet another "Katie"

When I was a little girl, I remember wanting a cabbage patch kid sooooo bad! My little neighbor friend's mom would stand out in the evenings and do all kinds of things to get her one and she had, like, four before I got my first and only. I still remember my mom taking me to Service Merchandise with our rain check to pick up good ol' Archibald. He wasn't exactly what I would have picked. But, back then, you got what you got. So, when I was pregnant with Suzy, I bought her this doll without even looking at the name. I just had a vision that my little girl would have blonde hair. The curls were just a bonus. ;) Plus, you know me and blue daisies! So, this was her introduction to her very own little Cabbage patch doll named, you guessed it.. Katie. So, we now have "Katie dog", "Katie friend (AKA Katie havaball)", and "Katie doll".

Yes, I do still have Archie. Isn't he just "sooo 80s?" I truly do never throw anything away. My poor husband...

Hey, Marti . . . did you get the package, yet?

I didn't play with dolls much as a little girl. I was more interested in animals, especially horses. I did have Barbies, and played with them and my horses all of the time. Anyway, my younger sister loved dolls, and my parents did get her a Cabbage Patch doll for Christmas one year. I love to tease my parents about how they "warped" me as a child. I told them once when I was in college that I was hurt that I never got a Cabbage Patch doll, and Susan had two or three. Guess what I got for Christmas during my junior year of college? =)

My Cabbage Patch doll had a red sweatsuit with yellow trim. It's going to keep me up all night trying to remember his name...
