Blue Bonnets 2009 - Take One

Well, it's that time of year again. The time when every loyal Texan must place their children in the Blue Bonnets and document that they are, indeed, still in Texas. Being that my kids are seventh generation, I see no end to this. ;) And I love it.

So, today we headed down to the Wildflower Center in hopes of getting at least one good shot. There are a few other patches springing up here and there, so I'm sure I'll be attempting a few more in the coming weeks. I think today was a success. If I don't get any other good pictures, I will sleep well in May. This is one of my favorites of Suzy. I got the hat in the Target $1 bin. How fun is that? I love Target. I was playing with my nifty fifty lens. Maybe I got it a little too wide? I blurred the background so much you almost can't tell they are Blue Bonnets. ;) But I know, and I still love it.

Yes, Ma'am. You are a keeper. Tantrums and all, my dear. I'm so glad God graced you with good looks.
And a sweet smile most of the time.

Poor Andy is still not feeling 100% and this is about the only one I was able to catch of him. Sweet little baby.
Will someone please tell me why I continue to try and get a shot of both children together? Seriously, I can photoshop them now. Why do I even try? Maybe because I can't fake that hand holding.
Poor little guy. He really wanted no part of these flowers. Suzy was so sweet and tried to help cheer him up. For M&M's of course, but I'm choosing to not focus on her motivation. ;)

Honestly, I do think her care for Andy is sincere for most of the time. It's one of the things that brightens my day when sometimes it can be so gloomy.
Apparently, I wasn't the only one taking photos. There was a TV crew from Waco covering the wildflowers and they video taped me taking the photos and then interviewed me afterwards. I'm so glad I don't live in Waco. I was a complete idiot. Duh, honestly, I make a living in public speaking, no really! However, I would love to hear how I was supposed to answer the question, "What do wildflowers mean to you?" when the context is photography. I mumbled something about it being a tradition to take the photos, yada yada yada. It was pretty funny. They took some additional footage of Suzy and she thought she was pretty cool. She wouldn't talk or answer their questions, but it was still cool to her.
Andy was happiest when I finally just let him crawl around a bit. I love his eyes in this shot. No, I did not enhance them in any way.
I also loved the "moodiness" of this shot.
How sweet is he? Rob wants this caption to be, "Does this make my butt look big?" He also said I should somehow add the sound to "I'm too sexy for my shirt..." Nah.
I just love how pudgy he is. I've always called him my sugar. This photo really makes me want to just "eat him up".
My sweet friend, Wren, came with me to help with the kids. I didn't get a good shot of them in the Blue Bonnets, but I did get a shot of her adorable little guy standing up. He's only a few days older than Andy. I think he's just as cute as can be. I adore his parents and hope he and Andy can be good buds in the future!

There you have it.... until we find more blooms! Happy Wildflower days!

So sweet! I've just given up on ever getting everyone to smile and be looking at the same time. It's all about the candid shots. ;o)
Love the overalls and those killer blue eyes!!!
